Christmas Eve today
The cute guy will be home for lunch today, but works until 5PM. He went back to work yesterday.
Church at 5. He will have to meet us there. Luckily, he ends the workday with the post office run, which is right by the church.
Then supper at the China Star and out to look at the lights.

Looking for the gypsies to sell the child.
As the cute guy pointed out to me last night, every time badpenny shows up, we get treated to the entire badpenny attitude.
Two more days of school. Then we have Saturday "off"
I do not like this lack-of-break to get anything done before Christmas.
Tried wrapping a few gifts yesterday morning before work, but that sputtered to a halt when I had to go in search of the tub of boxes. I did find it, but by the time I got it up there, it was time to get ready and leave for work.
Need to run a few errands and get gas today.
Bells were interesting last night. We are now playing THREE different songs for Christmas Eve. Seems like we are not attending that service, we are pretty much putting it on!
That will be like some warped version of whack-a-mole --- pop up and play, go sit down, pop up and play, go sit down...

Got the obligatory overpriced-sitting-with-Santa picture with grape jelly yesterday, but bestbaby was not having any part of that idea at all. She was not willing to sit on santa's lap, but she did sit next to him. I figured this year bestbaby was big enough -- last year, there were tears -- but hopefully an actual "good smiling picture" will happen next year.
Lila stopped over yesterday afternoon. She is pretty lonely with all the holiday stuff going on. All three of her kids are here in town, plus her grandson.
Taking smallbear out to the base for an appointment this morning. Not impressed that she decided to spend the night with badpenny.
We are having one of those goofy dress-up-this-way weeks at school. Today is "Santa hat day."

Reading my email spam filter -- my citibank account is overdrawn and my accountant license is in danger, my CPA certification is expiring and my mortgage is about to default.
I have to go through my spam filter, because there is always at least one message that gets grabbed by the spam filter that I do actually need to collect...but most of these are pretty silly.
Ordered the stuff for favoriteson from online sources, picked up the random bits from zilla's list at Hobby Lobby last night, the princessbride and strongson are supposed to have their box by today. I still need a gift for the cute guy. I still need something for firstborn.
I still need to mail a box of stuff to the parental units.
I did see a really cute elephant necklace at Riddles yesterday, so I called favoriteson. It was on zilla's list, sort of -- she requested "cute elephant jewelery and stuff" -- but it would have eaten her entire gift budget in one fell swoop. The favoriteson was pretty sure she would rather have way more cheaper stuff to open than one big-$-but-tiny box gift.
I am not so sure, but I decided to leave it up to him on that one.
So the zillas are done.
Weird. I hit the spellcheck button and it posted instead of spellchecking!
Guess LJ is telling me to finish up already?

Not major snowfall, but quite enough to muck things up and be a pain.
I need to get some shopping done and done now, as if there is junk that must be ordered online, the deadline is this week.
The Day after tomorrow.
The week AFTER Christmas, I have several nice wide swaths of free time to go shopping, but that is too late.
I pretty much have nothing to put under my tree for the locals - a few little dibs and dabs, but there were actual lists provided by two of the giftless five, and I would like to get their non-stocking-stuffer-type gifts from that list that was provided. Sadly, firstborn is, as always, a serious shopping challenge. Life was easier when garthbrooks was putting out a new album every year, as she was his biggest fan. A new album, a shirt featuring his name/face/tour/something, random garthbrooks items-of-silliness....and she was the happiest camper out there.
If anybody has any kind of pull in the showbiz world, give garthbrooks a kickstart, kthanxbi.
Tonight is bells -- as far as I know, all that is coming up on the menu is playing for the 5:00 Christmas Eve service.
Tomorrow Cocoa must go visit cocoaSarah and I have a 2nd Story meeting.
Friday is free at the moment....
Yesterday the cute guy had to go out to energizerbunny's wife's funeral. I was glad to hear that Clayton and Scott and several others from the old shop actually showed up -- it surprised me, to be honest. The cute guy and energizerbunny spent well over a decade working there.
The bugler was a recording, he said. The honor guard did fire the salute, but there was no human bugler playing Taps.
I have NOT found any cute ruffled church-dress-type dresses for grape jelly. I am thinking they are no longer available commercially. I am thinking about sewing, but I do not think zilla would ever dress her in them anyway. I can find "pageant dresses" online, but that is not what I am looking for at all.
Not the same thing -- pageant-dress-fabric and construction is designed for show and not for wear.
Cocoa's owie seems to be healed up, so she has been freed from her cone of shame.

Not pleased with the re-appearance of BadPenny.
Yes, I do realize that these poorly-timed reappearances are a hallmark of bad pennies everywhere -- but I am still not pleased.
Cocoa has an owie. I started putting booboo cream on it the day before yesterday -- the cute guy was using peroxide to clean it for several days before that - as she keeps it scratched he dug out the cone of shame so I could put the booboo cream on it and she will not keep scratching it open. Hopefully it will clear up quickly now that she cannot keep tearing it open.

Today is some sort of weird training day for the teachers. The kids will get out early, so we had to re-schedule the 3rd graders that were supposed to have library this afternoon to Friday instead.

Yesterday was an overallish cranky day.
It had some bright spots, but it mostly left me both cranky and dissatisfied.
Today will be a better day,
Because I decided it was going to be so.
I want to do something Christmassy in here today.
I still need to get going on my cards and I need to look at what I will be mailing for Christmas.
